How can I load the Amanda Unified Messenger? Print E-mail

The Amanda Unified Messager is the component that allows you to access your voicemail messages using Outlook.

The following are instructions for installing the Amanda Unified Messenger on your system:

  1. Close Outlook.
  2. Connect to the Amanda system shared folders. Typically, you can do this by clicking on your START button, selecting RUN..., and entering \\amandaserver in the OPEN field of the RUN dialog box.
  3. If you are prompted to enter a username and password, use GUEST for the username and GUEST for the password as well.
  4. You should see a folder named "CLIENTS". Double click on this folder to open it.
  5. You should then see a program item named "InBoxInstall". Double click on this item to open it.
  6. Accept all of the default settings until you are prompted to enter your mailbox number. Enter your mailbox or extension numbere her and click NEXT.
  7. Enter your voicemail box security code and click NEXT.
  8. Click YES to have the Amanda Unified Messenger remember your voicemail security code.
  9. Enter the name of the Amanda Server PC, typically the default value of AMANDASERVER is correct.
  10. Click FINISH. Software is loaded and the Amanda Unified Messenger is configured within Outlook.

Now, open Outlook and look in your folders list for a folder item titled AMANDASERVER\130 xxx FOLDERS. Open this folder up and look for a subfolder titled "Current Messages". Open this folder to see your voicemail messages. Double click on any message to open and play that message.
