Telephone Warehouse, Inc. recently installed a new Samsung OfficeServ 7200 Converged Communication System for Wallace, Plese & Dreher, LLP. This installation marks the third telecom system that TWI has installed for this long-time client over the past 10 years. As their organization has grown and flourished, Wallace, Plese & Dreher has turned to Telephone Warehouse to continue to provide for their telecom needs.
Wallace, Plese & Dreher contacted us and inquired about upgrading their telecom system and their office wiring as they had acquired additional space in their building and were doing a major remodel and expansion. Telephone Warehouse responded by providing a new Samsung OfficeServ 7200 Converged Communication System and a complete rewire of the entire office for phones & computers. To provide maximum flexibility in the future, all wiring provided was Cat5e with terminations on data jacks and patch panels. Not only does this provide maximum flexibility for future data applications and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), but it also makes for a much neater and more manageable installation. All phone extensions and computers are connected via patch cords. No traditional "punch down blocks" were used in this installation.
In addition to the general growth and expansion needs, several new features were provided:
- A new integrated T1 was provided from Integra Telecom, providing both internet access and Voice PRI T1 service. Voice PRI T1 provides direct inward dial (DID) service so that partners and staff can have dedicated telephone numbers that ring directly to their extensions without going through the company operator. A Voice PRI T1 also allows all outbound calls to specify a consistent caller identification number, so that each user can be identified by the main company number or by their assigned DID number, rather than the random numbers that occur with standard analog telephone lines.
- Fax-to-email will allow each staff member to have their own private fax number. Documents faxed to each individual telephone number will be converted to a TIF graphics file format, attached to an email, and sent to the user's private email address. This feature is very popular with our clients and allows maximum convenience and confidentiality in receiving faxes.
- Voice-to-email will allow staff to have their voicemail messages delivered to their email inbox as a WAV file attachment which they can play through the speakers on their computer. Messages can also still be retrieved via telephone as well.
- Conversation recording will allow conversations to be recorded for record keeping and future reference. When combined with the voice-to-email feature listed above, recorded conversations can be delivered in a WAV file format to email where they can be archived permanently or retransmitted.
Wallace Plese & Dreher also showed interest in other new features, such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and computer telephone integration (CTI), and may implement these features in the near future.
VoIP will allow remote system extensions to be deployed at remote locations, yet still function as an extension of the system as though they were across the hall. This allows remote users, telecommuting, branch office operation, and many other useful applications.
CTI will allow each user's office telephone to be integrated with Microsoft Outlook and other personal information management programs. Users can dial calls automatically using Outlook, and when incoming calls come in with caller ID, the caller's Outlook contact record can be instantly "popped" onto the user's computer screen before they have even answered the phone.
The users at Wallace Plese & Dreher are happy with their new telecom system and the job performed by Telephone Warehouse and are looking forward to the many benefits they will experience with their new system.
