Samsung SVMi E-Series Voicemail System

Manually Changing the Answer Mode

The Samsung SVMI-E Series voicemail system supports four answering modes. They are:

1. Day (open)
2. Night (closed)
3. Holiday (closed)
4. Weather (closed)

The Samsung SVMi-E Series Voicemail also supports a fifth mode, MODE 0, which is typically used all the time, called AUTO mode. In Auto Mode, the DAY and NIGHT modes follow the function of the DAY and NIGHT buttons on the receptionist console. That means that if the receptionist presses the NIGHT button, the voicemail will switch to its NIGHT mode.

It is also possible for the system administrator to manually activate any mode. This is typically performed to place the system in the HOLIDAY mode. Some companies will also use this procedure to activate the WEATHER mode. Since we do not have many snow days here in the Phoenix area, our clients who use this function use it for a special staff function mode. Example: a doctor's office closes for 2 hours in the afternoon on the first tuesday of every month for a staff meeting, so they would activate the WEATHER mode during this time.

The following are instructions for manually activating the answer modes:

1. Access main company greeting:

a. From within the office: press your voicemail button or dial the voicemail system access code (typically 529). When the voicemail system answers and prompts to enter your password, simply press *. This should return you to the main company greeting.

VOICEMAIL + *

or

529 + *

b. From outside the office: dial the main company telephone number and wait for the voicemailsystem to answer. If answered by a person, ask them to transfer you to extension 529.

2. Log into administrator’s mailbox 0000: Press # 0 0 0 0.

#0000

3. Enter administrator’s mailbox password (default is 0000, yours may be changed.):

0000

4. Select option 3 to change the answer mode:

5. Enter the port number as 0 for all ports:

0

6. Enter the new mode number. For day mode, enter 1. For night mode, enter 2. For holiday mode, enter 3. For weather mode, enter 4. To switch back to automatic mode, press 0.

Hang up and you're finished. The new mode will stay active until it is changed back to the automatic mode, so don't forget to put it back after the holiday!
