Probably the best way to reset a mailbox for a new user is to delete it and recreate it. This will delete all old messages, greetings, and other settings that may have applied to the old user. The steps to perform this are:
  1. Log into voicemail admin via telephone (instructions for this are listed below.)
  2. Select the option to edit subscribers.
  3. Once you have selected the subscriber, delete the old subscriber so that a new, fresh mailbox is created for the new subscriber.
  4. Enter the same mailbox number again and create both an extension and a mailbox for the new subscriber. The EXTENSION is associated with their telephone. The MAILBOX is associated with their ability to record messages. If a user does not have a telephone, they might have only a MAILBOX. If a phone does not have a user, such as a conference room, you might create only an EXTENSION and no MAILBOX.
  5. After you have created the new subscriber extension and mailbox, you might want to perform some basic setup for them. You can select the option to edit this user’s mailbox from within voicemail admin via telephone. The items you would set up for them would be:
    1. Record their name.
    2. Enter their directory name. (for the spelling if you are using a dial-by-name directory)
  6. After a user has been set up, they should complete the setup by changing their password, recording their greeting, and re-recording their name in their own voice.
The folllowing are instructions for administering voicemail subscribers.
